Stabbing threat made over claim of dog abuse

-

A CARNOUSTIE man threatened to “stab and shoot” his neighbour, believing he had reported him to the SSPCA.

William Robertson had a longstanding feud with a nearby resident and police had been called out on several occasions, Forfar Sheriff Court heard.

Fiscal depute Jill Drummond said Robertson, 27, had been reported to the SSPCA about his pet dog. On the afternoon of December 28, last year, shouting could be heard from Robertson’s High Street flat.

He was heard saying: “I’ve no’ been abusing my dog. I’ll show you abuse.”

Robertson walked to his neighbour’s door and was told to leave.

As he walked away, he shouted: “You’re a f***ing liar. I’ll stab and shoot you, you fat c***.” Robertson was heard ranting about phoning the SSPCA and “watching me from the window”.

Ms Drummond said: “The complainer and another witness who was present were left in state of fear and alarm.

“They called 999 and reported the incident.

“Because of the mention of stabbing, several police units were dispatched.”

Robertson told cops: “F*** off solicitor man.” He later said: “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done it.

“I know there are other ways of dealing with things.”

Robertson, now of Sidney Street, Arbroath, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Sheriff Derek Reekie deferred sentence until September 1 for Robertson to prove he can stay out of trouble.
