Man held after stand-off

A MAN was arrested after armed police locked down a residentia­l street in Perth at 5.45am on Saturday morning.

Officers descended on Campsie Road after a reported “concern for a person”.

The road was closed off and armed police were called to assist local officers.

Police said there was no risk to the public and confirmed that no shots were fired.

The fire service and an ambulance were also said to be at the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “As a precaution, local officers were assisted by armed officers at the incident which concluded at 11.50am. No firearm was discharged.

“A 41-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are continuing.”
