Inspiring rise to stardom

ANYONE looking for a story to inspire should check out details of Stephen Samson’s rags to riches journey.

The city actor was homeless a quarter of a century ago, following the death of his grandparents.

He spent years staying with various friends before discovering a love of acting at Dundee Rep.

Despite some difficult times, his rise has been remarkable and Stephen now features in the new £160 million Marvel blockbuster Dr Strange (see pages 12&13).

Of course, it could have turned out very differently.

But here’s hoping Stephen’s story gives hope to others who may find themselves in a similar situation.

Just because your life may not get off to the best possible start, it doesn’t mean you are doomed to failure.

Hard work, determination and enthusiasm will not guarantee success, but they are certainly a decent starting point.
