Police must be called to account over Sheku
AS Sheku Bayoh’s widow said to the inquiry which began on Tuesday: “No family should have to carry the burden of losing a loved one in police custody.”
No problem for the police officers involved in Sheku’s death who were effectively amnestied by the Scots legal system.
Coincidentally, the Queen’s Speech that day contained a new proposal that an amnesty procedure for Britain’s war in Ireland would be dependent on engagement with a form of truth commission.
Can we expect that the truth about the police actions will be forthcoming at this inquiry?
