SUNDAY saw McDermid Ladies visit Lochee Park to meet Dryburgh Athletic’s Women’s second team for the latest SWFL league match.

The game started with Dryburgh shooting downhill.

The hosts began well with some good passing and movement, with Amy Reilly and Chloe Sturrock both proving effective in the wide areas.

Hope Ramage and Ellie Scanlan were also causing the McDermid back line lots of problems.

Dryburgh were denied twice by the post and once the bar and some good goalkeeping by Chloe Hunter.

However, it was McDermid who scored first with a rare attack. Suddenly Dryburgh found themselves 2-0 down after conceding a free-kick, which was well taken.

However, five minutes before half-time, some great pressing from Ramage resulted in a goal and, minutes later, it was 2-2 after a good strike by Sturrock.

The second half started much the same as the as the first with Dryburgh moving the ball well.

It should have been 3-2 Dryburgh if not for a

Lochee Park bump near the goal line which denied Amy Reilly’s clever play.

Reilly saw the keeper well off her line and fired goalwards from fully 40 yards out only to see the ball bounce yards from the goal line and somehow go over the bar.

A few minutes later it was 3-2 McDermid but Ramage restored parity with some quick movement and a great strike into the bottom left corner of the net.

However, a further three goals in the last 20 minutes saw the visitors claim victory.

Dryburgh will feel the score did not fully reflect their performance with missed chances and some great work from McDermid’s keeper Hunter helping to secure an away win.

Abbie McCabe was ’Burgh’s top performer for her overall pressing and ability to create chances.

She was also very unlucky not to be on the scoresheet.
