Extreme images found on devices

- BY GORDON CURRIE

A HOSPITAL porter caught with extreme images claimed he had been sent them on a Facebook chat group he shared with his fellow countrymen.

Plamen Petkov also had extreme porn featuring adult men engaging in sexual activity with cows and child abuse images.

Petkov, 33, from Dundee, told a court he had only joined the chat group with 150 other Bulgarians to share “funny photographs and videos”.

He was placed on the sex offenders register after admitting two charges relating to illicit material found on his devices.

Fiscal depute Michael Sweeney told Perth Sheriff Court: “He was employed as a hospital porter. He had a partner and a four-month-old daughter at the time.

“Confidential information was received by the police indicating indecent images of children were held on devices at his flat.

“A search warrant was granted and a systematic search carried out.

“During the search a number of electronic devices were recovered.”

Mr Sweeney said material was found showing a three-year-old boy being forced to have sex with a woman, along with images of babies aged up to six months.

“The platform Viber had been used to receive two extreme porn videos.

“One showed a male engaged in sexual activity with a donkey and another showed an adult male in sexual activity with cows.”

Petkov told police: “I used to be in these stupid Facebook chats, so I don’t know if somebody sent it to me.”

Mr Sweeney said: “He stated he had been placed into two group chats by a friend. These largely contained the same people – approximately 150 other Bulgarian nationals the accused did not know.

“It shared funny photographs and videos other users had posted into the group chat and automatically downloaded them on to the device.

“He said he did not know what the content was when he viewed the images and said he left the group due to these posts.

“He denied having sexual interest in children.”

Sheriff William Wood granted Petkov bail and his case was continued for the preparation of social work and Tay Project reports.
