Coupar trip could be a tricky one for the Fed

- BY JUNICUS

IT’S back to Midlands League action for many clubs this weekend after last week’s Quest Engineering Cup ties, with table toppers Broughty Athletic looking to recover from a disappointing defeat at Buchanhaven.

The Fed travel to Foxhall Park where they meet a Coupar Angus side full of confidence after winning their last two games.

Broughty add Adam Brown who was cuptied last week while Coupar are without Aiden Lockhart through suspension.

Carnoustie are still trying to come to terms with their heavy defeat at Hermes and they won’t get it easy at Dundee St James who beat them in their last meeting, although the Gowfers won the previous four.

Paddy Conway will be without Aaron Conway and Kieran McWalter as a result of the red cards they picked up last week, while St James may show changes to the side that lost 3-0 to Kirrie Thistle.

North End, who are also out of the Quest Engineering Cup after losing to Bridge of Don on penalties, travel to Forfar WE who will be without the suspended James Russell.

Lochee United are now eight points behind Broughty Athletic after their midweek 4-2 win at Montrose Roselea and they have two games in hand.

Kerr Hay bagged two of their goals with Danny Cavanagh and new loan signing Craig Moore, from Dundee United, also on target.

The Bluebells head for Forfar United and will be favourites to pick up three points and keep the pressure on Broughty.

Downfield may have won the last three meetings against Letham but they will meet a Perth side full of confidence after last week’s terrific win over Culter.

The Spiders also had a good win, over Deveronside, and with home advantage they will fancy their chances of picking up three points.

Tayport head for Ogilvy Park to meet Arbroath Vics and will be out to add to their fine record against their opponents – undefeated in their last four meetings.

The Fifers are unlikely to show many changes from the side that came from behind to beat Dyce. Vics welcome back Matty Keogh from suspension but will be without Dean Hardie.

East Craigie host Lochee Harp and after last week’s terrific performance against Sunnybank the Shipbuilders will be favourites to make it six wins in a row against the Beechwood side who are struggling for results at the moment.

New Blairgowrie manager Marco Notarangelo will be looking to kick off with a win over Scone Thistle at Davie Park. Scone welcome back Mitch Hunter and Cammy Forbes but Ross Loudon and Omar Jassim are out injured and Kairn Brand, Calum Black and Ryan Kinnear face fitness tests.

Dundee Violet host Brechin Vics and after last week’s poor performance against Arbroath Vics they add Aiden Lorente and Logan Irvine, who are now free of suspension, to their squad. Vics will be strengthened with the return of Dugald Farquhar and Jacob Smith.

Kirrie Thistle include two new faces to meet Montrose Roselea after signing Reece Ritchie from North End and Dylan Wilson from Broughty Athletic on loan deals until the end of the season.
