Politicians pay a visit to Scotland’s dedicated first aid charity
DUNDEE politicians have visited Scotland’s only dedicated first aid charity.
SNP MSP for the Dundee City West constituency Joe FitzPatrick joined Dundee City Council leader John Alexander and Councillor Ken Lynn, health and social care spokesman for Dundee City Council, on a visit to St Andrew’s First Aid, which recently relocated to Dudhope Castle.
Mr FitzPatrick said: “It was fantastic to visit St Andrew’s First Aid’s new training facility with colleagues. Members of my constituency team recently took part in St Andrew’s First Aid’s threeday workplace course, and my staff will soon be undertaking mental health first aid.
“Just one in 20 people in the UK know what to do in a first aid emergency.
“I would encourage everyone to join an emergency first aid course if they have the opportunity.”
Mr Lynn said: “I was very impressed by the team at St Andrew’s First Aid and by the facility at The Circle, Dudhope Castle.
“St Andrew’s First Aid is Scotland’s only dedicated first aid charity and is everpresent at major events and sporting occasions.”
Stuart Callison, chief executive of St Andrew’s First Aid, said: “We were delighted to welcome Dundee MSP Joe FitzPatrick, council leader John Alexander and vicechairman of Dundee’s health and social care partnership, Councillor Ken Lynn, to our training facility at Dudhope Castle.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the vital first aid training we provide to the community.
“We are hugely grateful for their interest and support in our mission, and we look forward to working together to ensure adults and children across Dundee are equipped with vital life-saving skills.”
