Flag Carrier can set the standard

-

FLAG Carrier can make a winning start for his new trainer Brian Toomey in the Boost Your Acca At BetMGM Handicap at Southwell tomorrow.

Previously trained by Harry Eustace, the threeyear-old had shown ability before eventually managing to make the leap to victory last time out.

Placed three times at six and seven furlongs, a return to the longer trip worked the oracle at Kempton in January when triumphing by a length, despite not looking totally straightforward in the preliminaries and racing pretty keenly.

Raised 3lb for that victory, Flag Carrier could still have more improvement to come.

Corrales is the pick in the Bet £10 Get £40 At BetMGM Restricted Maiden Stakes after a promising debut effort.

A full-brother to Listed winners Mountain Angel and Fanciful Angel, Corrales is certainly bred to be smart and he made a decent start when fourth at Kempton last month.

He ducked across the track at the start that day which hardly helped his chances, before having to be switched late on to mount his challenge.

Beaten just four lengths

in fourth, Corrales should be wiser for the experience and ready to make his mark.

Largy Force can make it second time lucky over obstacles in the Core – Centre Of Roofing Excellence Hereford Mares’ “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle at Chepstow.

A point-to-point winner in 2022, she subsequently changed hands for £85,000 and made her rules debut in a Catterick bumper in December, coming home a fair second to Wilful, who has subsequently placed twice again, both in a bumper and over hurdles.

Warren Greatrex wasted no time in moving Largy Force to the hurdles sphere, sending her to Hereford last month to finish runner-up at the first attempt, albeit beaten seven and a half lengths.

While the six-year-old may want longer than this two miles in due course, she should be good enough.

Anthony Honeyball could have found Briefly a winning opportunity in the Treforest Tiling Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race.

Well beaten at the first attempt, she showed improved form when third last time when behind two smart types, with the runner-up subsequently placing fourth at Listed level.
