Bluebells pile yet more misery on poor Letham

- BY JUNICUS

ONLY five Midlands League matches beat the conditions on Saturday, among them Lochee United against Letham in Perth, with the Bluebells returning home with the points after a thumping 6-1 win.

This continued their goal spree against Letham, following on from a 10-0 victory earlier in the season and a recent 5-0 cup win.

Dougie Cameron’s side got off to a blistering start and were two ahead in the opening six minutes.

Jack Neave opened the scoring on five minutes and a minute later a Scone defender turned a Bobby Linn corner into his own net.

Lochee went three ahead on 27 minutes through Kerr Hay before the hosts pulled a goal back just before half-time through Aaron Carlson.

The Bluebells were soon buzzing around the Letham goal early in the second half and it came as no surprise when Craig Moore restored their three-goal advantage on 51 minutes.

The home defence cracked again when Connor Coupe struck on 65 minutes and Hay wound up the scoring with a sixth on 76 minutes.

Downfield got back in action after a spell of postponements with a well-earned 4-1 win at Montrose Roselea.

Liam McArtney opened the scoring for the Spiders in the 24th minute and there was a flurry of goals in the final eight minutes of the half.

Fraser Jamieson netted for Roselea but Downfield went in at the break 3-1 ahead through a brace from Sean Tucker. There was no way back for the home side when Tucker went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half.

North End beat Scone Thistle 5-1 after a sluggish first 45 from the Dokens. It was 1-1 at the interval, with Paul Sludden netting for the Dokens and Calum Black replying for Scone.

Whatever was said at half-time had the desired effect for North End as they took control and there was only going to be one winner after Sludden restored their lead.

Stuart Heenan made it three and Frankie Devine and Lewis Craik sealed the points with two more.

Arbroath Vics and Forfar United drew 1-1 with both goals coming from the penalty spot. United took the lead through Jackson Dobbie on 37 minutes but the lead only lasted two minutes when Connor McFarlane rammed home his spot-kick for the equaliser.

Carnoustie made heavy weather of beating Coupar Angus 1-0 at Foxhall Park. The home side held out to keep it goalless at half-time but midway through the second half Dale Reid fired in the winner for the Gowfers.
