- BY JUNICUS

THE final of the Quest Engineering Cup will be an all-dundee contest after Lochee United and East Craigie won their respective semi-finals against clubs from the north.

Lochee United took a first-half lead against Buchanhaven Hearts through Connor Coupe and Coupe struck again in the second half to book the Bluebells’ spot in the final.

East Craigie made a shocking start to their tie against Bridge of Don Thistle, finding themselves two down after the opening four minutes and that’s the way it stood at half-time.

The Shipbuilders responded to their half-time pep talk when Kai Flynn pulled a goal back and Lee Lorimer took the tie to penalties with an equaliser.

Craigie held their nerve in the shootout to win 4-2 and are on course to win the trophy for a second time in three seasons.

North End took another step in their bid to pip Broughty Athletic to the Midlands League title with a 6-1 victory over bottom club Forfar United.

The Dokens went ahead through Cammy Blacklock but United surprised them with an equaliser from Jamie Crosby.

North End’s quality soon told, however, as Stuart Heenan restored their lead. They eased their way to another three points with further strikes from Blacklock and Heenan, plus goals from Lewis Craik and Brian Clark.

Tayport were held to a 1-1 draw by Brechin Vics. The Fifers couldn’t have made a better start when Scott Mccomiskie gave them a firstminute lead but they couldn’t capitalise on further chances and paid the price when Jacob Smith levelled on 35 minutes.

Carnoustie were 3-0 winners against Coupar Angus at Laing Park. Dale Reid gave them a first-half lead, Daniel Smith doubled their advantage and Reid sealed the points with a third.

Downfield ended Blairgowrie’s unbeaten run with a comfortable 4-0 win over the Berrypickers. Liam Mcpake opened the scoring and Liam Mcartney added two more. Sean Tucker also found the back of the Blair net.

Dundee Violet picked up three welcome points with a 3-1 win over Letham.

The Pansies opened the scoring through Matty Adam after a goalless first half and Paul Mclaughlin doubled their lead before Shaun Simpson pulled a goal back for the Perth side.

Pat Martin then clinched the points for the Glenesk club with their third.

Forfar WE were 4-1 winners over Arbroath Vics. Brett Hampton scored two for the hosts, including a penalty, and Liam Jones and James Russell netted the other two. Bartosz Kwiatek netted Vics’ consolation goal.

Lochee Harp suffered a 4-1 defeat at Kirrie Thistle. Ben Starkey was on target twice for Thistle and Nathan Degernier and Tom Banyard scored the other two, with Matthew Riley replying for Harp.

Montrose Roselea scored a stoppage-time winner against Scone Thistle. Aulay Martin put Roselea ahead after 11 minutes but Scone hit back with an equaliser from Evan Wolecki on 48 minutes. It looked like it was heading for a draw until Martin struck the late winner.
