Dokens still in title hunt after hitting Vics for six

- BY JUNICUS

THERE doesn’t seem to be any stopping North End in their bid to win the title after they hammered Arbroath Vics 6-0 on Wednesday to pick up another three points.

Cammy Dow bagged a hat-trick and further strikes from Luc Bollan, Paul Sludden and an own goal made up the Dokens’ tally.

They still have to win their remaining four matches, all against teams from the lower half of the league, if they are to pip Broughty Athletic for the title, but the way they are playing few would bet against them.

Next up is a visit to Strathmore Park to face Forfar WE and the Dokens are likely to give a vote of confidence to Wednesday’s formation.

Lochee United wound up their league programme with a 5-1 win at Forfar United.

The Bluebells were given a jolt when the hosts took the lead through David Mcauley but after George Johnston equalised, the result was never in doubt.

Calvin Colquhoun gave them the lead before Danny Cavanagh chipped in with a double and Kerr Hay wound up the scoring.

The season isn’t quite over for the Bluebells, however, as they have a date with East Craigie in the final of the Quest Engineering Cup on May 18 at Craigie Park.

Downfield still have their eyes on finishing fourth and they picked up three points with a 3-1 win over Forfar WE.

Liam Mcartney bagged two of the goals and Jordan Colquhoun the other.

The Spiders now face Coupar Angus at home and will be favourites to add another three points to their total.

East Craigie and Violet shared the points in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.

Lee Lorimer was the Craigie marksman with Kyle Mcmulkin replying for the Pansies.

Craigie now meet Blairgowrie at home again in what will be the Berrypickers’ final match of the season.

Violet visit bottom club Forfar United and will be looking for a repeat of the 2-0 victory when they last met.

Dundee St James are finishing the season with a flourish after strolling to a 4-1 victory over Scone Thistle in midweek.

Steve Abbot took the honours with a hat-trick for the home side and Dylan Higgins was also on target. Ben Ayton was the Scone scorer.

The Fairfield side don’t have a match tomorrow while Scone are back in action with a visit from Brechin Vics.

Arbroath Vics and Kirrie Thistle meet at Ogilvy Park and both sides are without players through suspension. Vics are minus John Dye while Kirrie’s Liam Duell is also banned.

Carnoustie travel to face Letham and the Gowfers will have to do without Pat Smith who is suspended.

The Gowfers will still fancy their chances of leaving with the points after winning the last three meetings between the clubs.

Lochee Harp wind up their season with a visit from Tayport but are again without Daniel Edelston, and Tayport’s Mackenzie Williamson is also suspended.
