Child refugees join city protest
SYRIAN Kurdish child refugees joined the latest protest in Dundee against Turkish interventions in the Middle East.
The demonstration in City Square, organised by Scottish Solidarity with Kurdistan, was the second in recent weeks and coincided with similar gatherings in Glasgow and London.
Organiser Sarah Glynn said the group was calling on the UK Government to condemn the ongoing “aggressive” invasion of the northwestern Syrian region of Afrin by Turkish forces.
She added: “There is a Kurdish saying, born of bitter experience — ‘no friends but the mountains’.
“We want to show the people of Afrin that they also have friends here in Scotland.”
