DEPUTY First Min­is­ter and Ed­u­ca­tion Sec­re­tary John Swin­ney vis­ited Perth Col­lege UHI where he met some of the peo­ple in­volved in the de­liv­ery of foun­da­tion ap­pren­tice­ships.

They in­cluded rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the col­lege, Skills Devel­op­ment Scot­land, De­vel­op­ing the Young Work­force and lo­cal schools.

Mr Swin­ney also spoke to school pupils study­ing to­wards a foun­da­tion ap­pren­tice­ship.

Perth Col­lege UHI has of­fered the ap­pren­tice­ships to pupils af­ter tak­ing part in a pi­lot pro­gramme in 2015.

Mr Swin­ney said: “The ap­pren­tice­ships pro­vide a chance to achieve an in­dus­try-recog­nised qual­i­fi­ca­tion.”
