Area size is totally irrelevant

Evening Telegraph (Late Extra Edition) - - YOURVOICE - Think again.

I JUST can’t figure out what Rod Selbie is going on about in his answer to my query about why the Scottish Government gets more per head of population than either England or Wales.

In his answer he quotes the area size of each nation, but I find that totally irrelevant as the money doled out to local governments from the “privy purse” is to pay for things like education and health etc. What the number of km2 in an area has to do with anything I really don’t know.

The only thing we agree on is that the money comes from all the taxes collected from all over the country and someone has to dole it out, so to speak. Rod seems to feel Westminster is the evil responsible for all of Scotland’s problems.

I wonder how he will explain their part in our abominable record on teenage pregnancies and drugs?
