Division titles are still to be decided
IT’S coming down to the business end of the Dundee and District Badminton season.
Although the title is still up for grabs in all three divisions, the relegation places were decided over the last week.
Division Two last season, Dundee University (2) have found it tough in the top league and their quick return was sealed with a 5-2 defeat to Harris.
Harris started strongly, winning the first three games, although the students reduced the leeway to 3-1 going into the mixed.
There was a win apiece, before their fate was sealed in the second rubber of the penultimate game.
Nico Hadden and Maureen Bowser were on top form for a Harris team who have now moved up to second.
NCR (2) just avoided the drop from Division Two last season but were unable to do so this time, their relegation confirmed by a 5-1 home defeat from Dundee University (3).
The students were
2-1 ahead after the level doubles and a further three wins in the mixed clinched victory, as well as ensuring their own safety.
Division Two leaders NCR were held 3-3 by Abertay University.
It was 1-1 after the level doubles but the Cash went into the final game with a 3-2 lead.
Abertay are showing improved form, having put NCR out of the cup. They ensured a share of the spoils with a 21-16, 21-11 win by Rachel Mcdonald and Matthew Taylor.
