Divi­sion ti­tles are still to be de­cided

IT’S com­ing down to the busi­ness end of the Dundee and District Bad­minton sea­son.

Although the ti­tle is still up for grabs in all three di­vi­sions, the rel­e­ga­tion places were de­cided over the last week.

Af­ter win­ning

Divi­sion Two last sea­son, Dundee Univer­sity (2) have found it tough in the top league and their quick re­turn was sealed with a 5-2 de­feat to Har­ris.

Har­ris started strongly, win­ning the first three games, although the stu­dents re­duced the lee­way to 3-1 go­ing into the mixed.

There was a win apiece, be­fore their fate was sealed in the sec­ond rub­ber of the penul­ti­mate game.

Nico Had­den and Mau­reen Bowser were on top form for a Har­ris team who have now moved up to sec­ond.

NCR (2) just avoided the drop from Divi­sion Two last sea­son but were un­able to do so this time, their rel­e­ga­tion con­firmed by a 5-1 home de­feat from Dundee Univer­sity (3).

The stu­dents were

2-1 ahead af­ter the level dou­bles and a fur­ther three wins in the mixed clinched vic­tory, as well as en­sur­ing their own safety.

Divi­sion Two lead­ers NCR were held 3-3 by Abertay Univer­sity.

It was 1-1 af­ter the level dou­bles but the Cash went into the fi­nal game with a 3-2 lead.

Abertay are show­ing im­proved form, hav­ing put NCR out of the cup. They en­sured a share of the spoils with a 21-16, 21-11 win by Rachel Mcdon­ald and Matthew Taylor.
