Road Bridge closed as winds reach 82.4mph

GALE-FORCE winds have placed the Tay Road Bridge off lim­its to all traf­fic to­day.

“The storm was al­ready at force four in Dundee at 7am with gusts of up to 60mph.

“The Tay Road Bridge was open to cars and sin­gle decker buses only by 8am, trav­el­ling at 30mph.”

A spokesman for Sco­trail said there had been no dis­rup­tion to train ser­vices on the East Coast line.

Dundee Air­port man­ager Der­rick Laing con­firmed there had been no dis­rup­tions to flights, with the 9.10am Lo­ganair flight out of Stansted to Dundee leav­ing on time.

The strength of the storm was gath­er­ing as morn­ing com­muters made their way to work.
