Man, 26, ac­cused of rob­bery and as­sault

DAR­REN Rach­wal, 26, of Trans­form in Soap­work Lane, ap­peared in private be­fore Sher­iff Ge­orge Way at Dundee Sher­iff Court on a pe­ti­tion al­leg­ing as­sault and rob­bery.

Rach­wal is al­leged to have, on June 1, at Dun­don­ald Street, while act­ing with others un­known, as­saulted Si­mon Ste­wart by re­peat­edly de­mand­ing he hand over cash, trip­ping him up, caus­ing him to fall to the ground, re­peat­edly punch­ing and kick­ing him on his head and body, pulling at his cloth­ing and rum­mag­ing through his cloth­ing, pulling his trousers to his an­kles and search­ing him, at­tempt­ing to re­move his ruck­sack and rob­bing him of a wal­let, cash and a mo­bile phone, a post office card, keys and a pair of hair clip­pers.

He made no plea and his case was fully com­mit­ted for trial. He was re­manded in cus­tody.
