Council fleet car used to clear excess rubbish

Evening Telegraph (Late Extra Edition) - - COURT REPORTS - BY LINDSEY HAMILTON

BLACK bags filled with rubbish have been spotted being loaded into the back of one of Dundee City Council’s electric fleet cars.

“This raises all sorts of health and safety concerns.

“It also comes at a time where environmental department workers are continuing to fight to safeguard jobs as a result of council cuts.

“They are also still in talks over terms and conditions.

“This must not be allowed to happen again and the union will be monitoring the situation.”

A spokeswoman for Dundee City Council said: “Where appropriate, action will be taken by a supervisor to uplift excess litter.”

Local trade union leader George Barr is seeking assurances over the clearing of rubbish from city streets.
