A FIFE boxer will be in the spotlight when she makes her professional debut on the undercard of the Josh Taylor-viktor Postol bout for the WBC Silver super lightweight title, which Taylor holds.

The show is at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro on June 23.

Aftychia Kathpbouli was born in Greece but now lives in Glenrothes where she trains under the watchful eye of Stevie Mcguire.

Most of her 50 amateur contests have been in this country and she proved herself in the amateur ranks with many fine victories.

They include winning the Haringey Box Cup in London, the Celtic Box Cup in Dublin, the Golden Girl Box Cup in Sweden and Scottish titles.

Mcguire said: “Aftychia is a terrific prospect and this is a wonderful opportunity for her. To make her pro debut on such a prestigious show is a big boost for her.”

UNIFIED middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin has accepted a deal for a September rematch against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, according to the Mexican’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

Yesterday’s deadline set by De La Hoya appeared to be set to pass with no agreement in place, only for a sudden turn of events late in the evening.

“I’m happy to inform that we have a fight September 15!” De La Hoya tweeted.

The pair’s first bout last September ended in a controversial draw, with judge Adalaide Byrd’s scorecard of 118-110 in favour of Alvarez widely ridiculed.

A rematch was planned for May, only for Canelo to withdraw after failing two drugs tests for banned substance clenbuterol in February.

He claimed it was a result of eating contaminated meat.
