Officers are asking for the young woman to identify herself after she apparently came to the aid of a distressed woman wearing only a dressing gown in South Inch park on New Year’s Day.

Police said they would like the woman to come forward to help with their inquiries.

She i s described as being in her late 20s to early 30s, short, of medium build with long black hair.

Anyone with information about the i ncident can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting CR/144/19, or speak to any police officer. Alternatively, people can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or on its website, which is: crimestoppers-uk.org.

Stephanie Donaghy said she was hit by the red Vauxhall Corsa at around 3pm on Wednesday at the junction of Frederick Street and Camperdown Road in Downfield.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have come spotted the driver, described as wearing a dark jumper with dark hair and glasses, after he nearly crashed head-on into another woman who was pregnant.

Stephanie, 37, from Kirkton said: “It’s really scary – I have never been in an accident before. I was coming back from the doctors and coming down Camperdown Road towards Strathmartine Road when a car came out from Frederick Street as I was coming to the junction. The impact of it caused my wheel to basically come off and the main body and driver side of my car is ruined.

“I soon realised he was not going to stop and kept on driving. He just sped off. When he got to the crossroads at Strathmartine Road, other cars had to put their brakes on. There were bits falling off his car and he had smoke coming out the back but he kept going at speed during the school run time.

“When I got out to call the police, my legs were like jelly and my hands were shaking.”

Another woman involved in the incident was heavily pregnant at the time and is understood to have gone into hospital to give birth today.

Stephanie, a sport and fitness student, had only bought her Range Rover in November.
