CARNOUSTIE lost 4-1 at Kir­rie This­tle in the Su­per League.

Sam Simp­son gave the Gowfers the lead when he con­verted a penalty in 17 min­utes.

How­ever, the Gowfers im­ploded in the sec­ond half with the Westview side run­ning them ragged after the break.

Ryan Ker­ri­gan lev­elled in 57 min­utes and, three min­utes later, Paul Slud­den gave the hosts the lead.

Then, to rub salt into the Gowfers wounds, a dou­ble from Dale Reid com­pleted a 4-1 win for the home side.

Down­field lost 5-2 at Thorn­ton. The writ­ing was on the wall when they found them­selves three down after a dis­as­trous first eight min­utes.

Gary Thomson got the opener in three min­utes and an­other two quickly fol­lowed from Ben An­thony and Adam Drum­mond.

The Spi­ders replied with a Jor­dan Gar­den goal in 17 min­utes but An­thony re­stored Hibs’ three-goal ad­van­tage in 28 min­utes.

Ross Gal­lagher pulled an­other back in 84 min­utes but, a minute later, An­thony sealed their fate and also com­pleted his hat-trick.

RE­SULT of the week – It’s dif­fi­cult to ig­nore Broughty’s thump­ing win at Coupar, while Lochee Harp de­serve a men­tion for beat­ing Tay­port. How­ever, the award goes to KINNOULL, who ended North End’s proud un­beaten l eague record with a 3-1 win at North End Park.
