Taylor made for stardom

-

FOOTBALL legend Sir Alex Ferguson may be among the famous former pupils of Govan High School, but now the school has seen the emergence of a new football talent.

Twelve-year-old Taylor Flemming has been tipped as one of the future stars of Scottish football.

Earlier this year, the Govan High pupil won the coveted Angus Johnson Memorial Trophy for his exceptional football skills.

The star player of his high school team aims to use his skills to forge a successful professional career.

He said: “Playing on the school team gives me a lot more time to practice my skills and get better. I’m going to apply myself, work hard and do the best that I can in order to live my dream and play professionally.”

Sir Alex will be the guest of honour when Govan High marks its centenary next year, and he has promised to give Taylor a one-to-one chat when he visits in February.

When he last visited the school Sir Alex said: “First of all, enjoy playing. If you are serious about turning professional, you must have a strong practice ethic.”

Since then, Taylor has taken this advice on board and has been practising as much as possible.

Taylor added: “I can’t wait to meet Mr Ferguson and I know whatever advice he gives me, I will make sure I follow it.”
