Should I take dog with me to Oz?

I WANT to take my dog with us when we emigrate to Australia next year. Any advice?

IT’S always important to think carefully before taking a pet abroad.

They could pick up a disease not found on home shores, and the change in climate could be very stressful for them.

However, there is a difference between going on holiday and emigrating and it may be kinder to take your dog with you.

Make an appointment to discuss your travel plans with your vet, who can advise on whether your dog will be fine to travel (very young, old or sick animals usually shouldn’t travel) as well as advice on microchipping and vaccinations.

Start making plans at least eight months before departure.
