‘Deal’ to free hostages

-

SOMALIA: The boss of a maritime security firm has claimed he could secure the release of a Kent couple kidnapped by Somali pirates in a £100,000 deal.

Paul and Rachel Chandler, from Tunbridge Wells, Kent, have been held captive since their yacht was hijacked on October 23 as they sailed from the Seychelles towards Tanzania.

Nick Davis, who runs the Merchant Maritime Warfare Centre, said he set up a deal with the kidnappers weeks ago but cannot progress without the permission of the family.
