Celtic snap up £1.5m defender

CELTIC last night signed Nigerian central defender Efe Ambrose and will immediately register him for the Group Stages of the Champions League.

Protracted negotiations were finally concluded inside Parkhead when Israeli club FC Ashdod accepted an offer of £1.5million.

The 23-year-old then agreed personal terms on a three-year deal.

Ambrose will require international clearance and a work permit before the transfer can be rubber-stamped.
