Old Firm aces teamed up against Scotland

CELTIC’S Emilio Izaguirre is preparing to head to the World Cup this summer with Honduras, while Rangers’ Arnold Peralta will be on the plane to Rio with him.

Unfortunat­ely, they will not come up against Scotland but, sometimes, Old Firm stars are pitted against the country where they ply their trade.

Larsson made one appearance against Scotland, coming on as a substitute at Ibrox in a 1996 World Cup qualifier. William Kelly signed for St Mirren on October 17, 1934, and spent eight seasons there. In April, 1942, he signed for Morton before returning to St Mirren in season 1942/43.

He joined Dundee United in August, 1945, before going back to Morton in February, 1946.

In an incident while playing for St Mirren against Rangers at Ibrox on August 19, 1944, he was ordered off for kicking. As he had a previous record, he received a six-month ban.

Then, while playing for Morton in 1946, he again was ordered off for violent conduct and received the suspension sine die.
