Driver falls ill in Clyde Tun­nel mid-rush hour

A FE­MALE driver was rushed to hos­pi­tal af­ter fall­ing ill in­side the Clyde Tun­nel dur­ing yes­ter­day morn­ing’s rush hour.

There were mas­sive de­lays near the area shortly af­ter 8am.

Traf­fic Scot­land ini­tially said ve­hi­cles were be­ing held up be­cause of an “emer­gency in­ci­dent.”

Cars was re­port­edly queu­ing back onto the M8 at junc­tion 25 Car­don­ald.

The Scot­tish Am­bu­lance Ser­vice said a woman took ill be­hind the wheel and was “un­able to carry on driv­ing.”

A spokes­woman added: “We re­ceived a call at 8:31am to at­tend an in­ci­dent at the Clyde Tun­nel.

“An am­bu­lance was dis­patched to the scene and one fe­male pa­tient was taken to Queen El­iz­a­beth Hos­pi­tal.”

Her con­di­tion was not dis­closed.
