Blow for young football star
THE “unluckiest young footballer in Scotland” spoke out after breaking his thigh bone in a Scotland youth international match.
Mark Molloy had some of the biggest clubs in the UK looking for his signature, including Celtic, Manchester United and Arsenal.
But the then 14-year-old was dealt a massive blow after his thigh bone was split in two in a challenge with an England youth goalkeeper in Peterborough.
However, the persistent youngster overcame the odds and eventually signed a professional contract with Celtic.
His stroke of bad luck continued and, after years in the lower leagues, retired in 2007.
