Purdon to play Benny Lynch

RIVER City star Stephen Purdon will take on the role of Gorbals boxer Benny Lynch in a new play.

The actor will play the fighter, who won his title in 1935, aged just 22, and was dead by 33, in a new play The Benny Lynch Story that will tour all over Scotland next summer.

Stephen, 35, is best known for playing Bob Adams in the hit BBC soap.
