Funds raised after death of tragic footballer
MORE than £3000 has been raised in under a week after a young footballer tragically died at just 14-years-old.
Regan Murray was found unconscious at house in Alloway Grove in Paisley on Tuesday. Police Scotland said his death was not suspicious.
The popular teenager’s devastated football club launched a fundraising drive online shortly after his death which has amassed £3194 from heartbroken mourners.
Centre midfielder Regan played for Busby AFC’s 2004 GADYFL squad in East Renfrewshire and the money raised will support his devastated family including his twin brother Callum, who also played on the team.
Joseph Noon, general manager of Busby AFC, said: “Regan was a very confident player who had a lot of promise. He was extremely talented and had settled into the club really well with his brother.
“It seemed like he was really enjoying his time with us. This has come as a real shock to everyone who knew Regan. We would like to express our deepest condolences to Regan’s parents, brother and his younger sister at this extremely hard time.”
Regan’s dad Arthur also expressed his gratitude to the messages of support following his son’s death.
Busby AFC hope to raise a total of £3500 for the family.
