Tragedy as man dies at bus depot

A BUS worker has died following a horror accident at a Renfrewshire depot.

The 43-year-old McGill’s employee is understood to have been hit by a bus in the early hours of Friday morning.

The tragic incident happened at the transport firm’s yard on Cochranemill Road, Johnstone.

He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where his condition was initially described as “critical”.

But Police Scotland later confirmed that he sadly passed away from his injuries on Saturday morning.

A spokesman for the force said police arrived at the scene at around 12.50am on Friday.

The Police Scotland spokesman added: “The Health and Safety Executive have been informed and enquiries are ongoing.”
