Trial for man over cash machine blast
A MAN is to stand trial charged with blowing up a cash machine.
James Deeney is alleged to have carried out the crime at a Farmfoods supermarket in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire in January this year.
Prosecutors claim he lit gas causing an explosion to force open the ATM.
It is said this was done “with intent to steal”.
The 49 year-old, also of Clydebank, faces a separate charge under the Explosive Substances Act.
His lawyer Louise Arrol pleaded not guilty as he appeared for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today/ yesterday.
Lady Stacey set a trial due to begin next May.
Bail for Deeney was continued meantime.
