Tavernier admits Spanish break came at the right
JAMES TAVERNIER admits the winter shutdown came at just the right time for him as he gears up for the second half of the season.
The Ibrox captain has been a key part of Steven Gerrard’s side in recent months and has played 37 competitive matches so far this term.
Gerrard put his squad through their paces at a training camp in Tenerife last week and Tavernier said: “It was definitely good to get a break; I would hold my hands up and say for me that was much needed.
“Everyone needed to go away, recharge the batteries, freshen up the minds and come back all fresh for the second half of the season.
“I felt really strong in the Celtic game and even after it I wasn’t too sore then I got a week off. Now we are gradually getting back into it and getting ready for Cowdenbeath.”
