Po­lice tackle large-scale city park dis­tur­bance

PO­LICE and emer­gency ser­vices were called to Kelv­in­grove Park in Glas­gow’s West End to deal with a ‘large scale’ dis­tur­bance.

Of­fi­cers were called to the park at around 4.30pm yes­ter­day while hun­dreds were en­joy­ing the sunny tem­per­a­tures.

Mounted po­lice and a he­li­copter were also despatched to tackle the brawl which is said to have in­volved up to 30 peo­ple. Eye­wit­nesses de­scribed how three po­lice cars “raced into the park.”

Po­lice said ear­lier yes­ter­day that ex­tra pa­trols were planned for the park for the Easter week­end.

A po­lice spokesman added: “At around 4.30pm, po­lice were called to a dis­tur­bance in­volv­ing a large num­ber of peo­ple in Kelv­in­grove Park. Emer­gency ser­vices are in at­ten­dance and in­quiries are on­go­ing.”
