Can Hibs finish the season unbeaten? Why the Heck not...

Evening Times - - LANDBROKES PREMIERSHIP -

PAUL Heckingbottom has yet to lose a league game as manager of Hibernian and he believes his team can get to the end of this season without suffering another defeat.

That would be some achievement but the way this Hibs side are playing, it’s more than possible.

Heckingbottom is not a man for 100 words when five will do. So, when he says that he can finish his first three months at Easter Road with just one defeat, to Celtic in the Scottish Cup, you’ve got to believe him.

The Hibs manager said: “There’s no reason we can’t, but it’s tough. We’ve had to scrap and fight for everything so far so it would be a hell of an achievement – and would take some doing.

“You see the effort the boys are putting in, they are putting their bodies on the line at the back and showing a willingness to go forward and try to win games. I am proud of them right now and they deserve good things written about them and the support of the fans.”

This was a hard fought point on a day when Hibs matched Celtic for long periods. Heckingbottom said: “In all honesty, I’m disappointed we did not win because you are greedy.

“I’m also pleased because for long parts of the game were exactly how we wanted to play and what we’re about.

“I’m delighted for the players, proud of them. We asked them to do a lot of things today which is a test for them and going to leave them a little bit exposed when we try to press high.

“When they are trying to do what you ask you back them all the way. Looking back on it, I [witnessed] exactly what I expect and how it can benefit them.”
