Glas­gow com­mu­nity fund­ing boost

A FUND­ING boost has al­lowed com­mu­nity spa­ces in Glas­gow con­tinue their great work.

The Co-op’s Lo­cal Com­mu­nity Fund has gen­er­ated more than £100,000 in just over two years.

Cal­lan­der Youth Project Trust, Cuppa Time (Strath­blane Par­ish Church of Scotland) & Friends of Stone­house Park (FOSP) have been the re­cip­i­ent of cash.

Co-op mem­bers, re­ceive a five per cent reward for them­selves with a fur­ther one per cent go­ing to lo­cal causes when they buy own-brand prod­ucts. Mem­bers can de­cide how the money is al­lo­cated, and are en­cour­aged to se­lect the causes they wish to sup­port online.

Re­becca Birk­beck, Direc­tor of Com­mu­nity En­gage­ment at the Co-op, said: “Our mem­bers are pas­sion­ate about pro­tect­ing com­mu­nity spa­ces.”
