Pedes­trian struck by car as cops shut south side street

A SOUTH Side road was cor­doned off by po­lice last night after a pedes­trian was struck down by a ve­hi­cle.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called to Aiken­head Road at around 5pm amid re­ports of a col­li­sion.

Glas­gow City Coun­cil put out a traf­fic alert warn­ing peo­ple to avoid the area be­tween Calder Street and Cath­cart Road while medics at­tended.

There are no fur­ther de­tails on the pedes­trian’s in­juries at this stage.

A Po­lice Scot­land spokesper­son con­firmed to the Evening Times that they were in at­ten­dance.

They said: “Of­fi­cers were called at around 5pm fol­low­ing re­ports of a pedes­trian be­ing struck by a ve­hi­cle on Aiken­head Road in Glas­gow.”
