Masked thug hunted af­ter book­ies raid

A MASKED thug made off with a three-fig­ure sum of cash af­ter an armed raid on a La­nark­shire book­ies.

Staff and cus­tomers in­side the Bet­fred book­mak­ers on Union Street in Larkhall have been left “badly shaken” af­ter the in­ci­dent.

At around 6pm on Tues­day the man, armed with a knife, threat­ened staff be­fore leav­ing the build­ing through the rear fire exit.

The two mem­bers of staff and one customer in­side the store were un­in­jured.

The sus­pect is white, around 5ft8ins, and aged be­tween 30 and 40-years-old.

The slim-built man, who spoke with a lo­cal ac­cent, was wear­ing a black track­suit top with a blue stripe on each arm with match­ing track­suit bot­toms. He had his hood up and was wear­ing a black bal­a­clava, with a yel­low mo­tif, across his face.

Po­lice of­fi­cers have been check­ing CCTV footage from the area.
