£130,000 helps boost tots’ ap­peal

AN ap­peal to raise £250,000 for Glas­gow’s most vul­ner­a­ble ba­bies has been launched, with an amaz­ing £130,000 al­ready raised. Glas­gow Chil­dren’s Hospi­tal Char­ity’s new neona­tal ap­peal was un­veiled at the char­ity’s 13th An­nual Fundrais­ing Ball. Cash do­nated in­cluded £50,000 to fund LifeS­tart re­sus­ci­ta­tion trol­leys – pi­o­neer­ing equip­ment to sta­bilise pre­ma­ture and poorly ba­bies while they are still at­tached to the um­bil­i­cal cord. The char­ity is aim­ing to raise £250,000 through the ap­peal for the neona­tal units at the Royal Hospi­tal for Chil­dren, Go­van, the Princess Royal Ma­ter­nity Hospi­tal, in the city cen­tre, and the Royal Alexan­dra Hospi­tal, Pais­ley, where al­most 2,000 ba­bies are cared for each year. Shona Car­dle, chief ex­ec­u­tive at Glas­gow Chil­dren’s Hospi­tal Char­ity, said: “These ba­bies, their fam­i­lies and the teams who care for them in­spire us with their strength and brav­ery ev­ery day. We want to do ev­ery­thing we can to sup­port them.”
