Meet Sweep... curl­ing mas­cot is un­veiled for cham­pi­onship

A WEST High­land Ter­rier called Sweep is the of­fi­cial mas­cot for the LGT World Men’s Curl­ing Cham­pi­onship which takes place in Glas­gow next year.

The mas­cot, who comes with a brush and curl­ing stone, was un­veiled to 13,000 peo­ple at the

Christ­mas lights switch-on in Ge­orge Square last night.

Sweep, named by the pub­lic in a Twit­ter poll, is a pas­sion­ate curl­ing fan and hails from Ailsa Craig, home of the unique curl­ing stone gran­ite.

The World Men’s Curl­ing

Cham­pi­onship will be re­turn­ing to Scot­land, the home of curl­ing, for the first time in 20 years, and were last held in Glas­gow in 2000.

It will be the first time the Emi­rates has held an ice event when the com­pe­ti­tion takes place next March and April.
