Warning after £28k con
AN urgent warning has been put out by police after a pensioner was conned out of thousands of pounds by a bogus workman.
In September, a 73-yearold man, from Bishopton in Renfrewshire, was excessively charged for roofing by a cruel conman – to the value of £28,000.
On Thursday last week, after significant work by the force’s Financial Investigation Unit, a 51-year-old man from Glasgow was arrested and reported for alleged fraud.
A spokesperson for the force added: “If you have also been the victim of a rogue trader or think that you have please call us on 101.”
They also added a list of Trading Standards advice, urging people not to agree to buy from the first person who calls and not to pay cash up front or offer to go and get money.
