Old foes driving each other on

Evening Times - - LAST WORD -

Anything you can do, I can do better? That seems to be the case with Celtic and Rangers this season as the old rivals go toe-totoe at home and abroad.

Trying to outdo each other is good for both clubs. Celtic are already through to the last 32 of the Europa League but Rangers have qualification in their grasp and they’ll certainly not want to be left behind.

On the domestic front, meanwhile, the nip-and-tuck nature of the title race continues. Historically, it was always like this; each team driving each other on.

It’s a huge month coming up for both sides. Rangers, as I mentioned, still need to put the lid on their Europea League group campaign, there is the Betfred Cup final looming on the horizon before the two teams slug it out in the league at the end of the December.

These really could be defining moments in the season and both teams will relish the challenge.

They’ll know, too, that if one slips up, the other will be waiting to pounce.
