Po­lice urge wit­nesses who saw tragic quad bike crash to come for­ward

TRAF­FIC cops in­ves­ti­gat­ing the death of a man who died af­ter his quad bike crashed into a lamp­post in Knightswoo­d have ap­pealed for wit­nesses.

David McMil­lan, 27, was pro­nounced dead at the scene fol­low­ing the ac­ci­dent on Archer­hill Road on Thurs­day, Novem­ber 28.

Po­lice have now re­vealed he was rid­ing a blue Yamaha YFM quad bike with two other peo­ple on quad bikes when it struck a traf­fic light around 4.45pm.

The road was closed un­til 10.20pm whilst en­quiries were car­ried out, but of­fi­cers hope pass­ing mo­torists may have wit­nessed the crash.

Sergeant Kenny Malaney, Glas­gow Road Polic­ing Unit, said: “We are sup­port­ing the man’s fam­ily at this dif­fi­cult time.

“En­quiries are on­go­ing to es­tab­lish the full cir­cum­stances of the col­li­sion and we would ask that any­one who wit­nessed the crash or

may have any rel­e­vant dash­cam footage to con­tact the po­lice as soon as pos­si­ble.

“We are also ap­peal­ing for any­one who may have been in the Knightswoo­d area on Thurs­day af­ter­noon and saw quad bikes be­ing driven in the nearby streets to get in touch.”

Their ap­peal comes af­ter we re­vealed hun­dreds of pounds have been raised in his mem­ory through a Crowd­fund­ing page.

Jen­nifer Bell, who set up the page, set a target of £5000 for the fam­ily of the new dad, whose son Rex was born six weeks ago to his part­ner Katie.

She said David had “trag­i­cally lost his life far too soon”

More than £700 has been raised so far by well­wish­ers.
