Hearn plans spring title fight for Farooq

Evening Times - - CRICKET - DARREN JOHNSTONE

EDDIE HEARN insists Kash Farooq will be fighting for a title in the spring after recruiting the Scot to his Matchroom promotion company.

Glasgow’s Farooq controversially lost a split points decision to Lee McGregor for the British and Commonwealth bantamweight belts last month.

But Hearn believes the 23-year-old, who had won all of his 13 bouts prior to the McGregor fight, can reach the top in the sport and is looking forward to working with him.

Hearn said: “He (Kash) is a special talent that impressed me last time out and I believe he has so much potential.

“He will be back in a title fight in the spring and I look forward to many exciting fights with him in Scotland and around the world.”

Farooq has vowed not to dwell on the first loss of his career. He said: “For me it’s all about moving on, keeping my head up and not letting things like my last fight keep me down. ”
