Lewis to be training base for Antarctic swim
AN endurance swimmer is to take to the seas around the Outer Hebrides in preparation for an Antarctic challenge.
Lewis Pugh is to swim a kilometre across a lake on the Antarctic ice sheet to raise awareness of the climate crisis at the poles.
In the run up to this he has put out an advert for people to train with him off the Isle of Lewis from later this month.
To train for the one kilometre swim across a ‘superglacial lake’, Mr Pugh, who has swum in Antarctica before, will train in mountain lochs and the sea around the Isle of Lewis.
