THE manager of Jollytots and Cookies in Uddingston has been recognised as an unsung hero.

For five years, Gail Gillon has opened the doors to her cafe on Christmas day to offer a feast and entertainment for more than 70 lonely people in need, providing hampers, gifts and transport fees for all who attend.

She has now been honoured with an award by foodservice provider Bidford due to her dedication to the hospitality industry throughout the busiest time of the year.

Gail said: “Opening our doors on Christmas has given me some of my happiest memories running the cafe. It’s a real joy to know I can make a positive impact on people’s lives.”
