City airport expecting bonanza
MORE than 260,000 travellers are expected to pass through Glasgow Airport this Christmas.
Holiday-goers will be heading for some winter sun to destinations such as the Canary Islands, Dubai, Malaga and Alicante, with others booked up for city or ski breaks.
Those who live and work elsewhere in the UK or overseas will also be making their way home to celebrate Christmas and New Year with friends and relatives.
On Christmas Day alone, almost 2500 passengers will pass through the airport on 14 flights between Glasgow, Amsterdam, London and Dubai. During the busiest time of the year, Glasgow Airport are urging travellers to pack their Christmas gifts carefully and to double check packing regulations with their Christmas airlines on what they can and cannot pack.
The airport’s managing director Mark Johnston said: “Our advice to everyone – whether they are travelling home or jetting off for a winter break – is to double check that all liquids carried in hand luggage are within the 100ml limit. This includes presents such as toiletries and alcohol.”
