City air­port ex­pect­ing bo­nanza

MORE than 260,000 trav­ellers are ex­pected to pass through Glas­gow Air­port this Christ­mas.

Hol­i­day-go­ers will be head­ing for some win­ter sun to des­ti­na­tions such as the Ca­nary Is­lands, Dubai, Malaga and Al­i­cante, with oth­ers booked up for city or ski breaks.

Those who live and work else­where in the UK or over­seas will also be mak­ing their way home to cel­e­brate Christ­mas and New Year with friends and rel­a­tives.

On Christ­mas Day alone, al­most 2500 pas­sen­gers will pass through the air­port on 14 flights be­tween Glas­gow, Am­s­ter­dam, Lon­don and Dubai. Dur­ing the busiest time of the year, Glas­gow Air­port are urg­ing trav­ellers to pack their Christ­mas gifts care­fully and to dou­ble check pack­ing reg­u­la­tions with their Christ­mas air­lines on what they can and can­not pack.

The air­port’s man­ag­ing di­rec­tor Mark John­ston said: “Our ad­vice to ev­ery­one – whether they are trav­el­ling home or jet­ting off for a win­ter break – is to dou­ble check that all liq­uids car­ried in hand lug­gage are within the 100ml limit. This in­cludes presents such as toi­letries and al­co­hol.”
