New ex­er­cise project bids to get peo­ple on

GLASWE­GIANS are be­ing en­cour­aged to take part in a new walk with a doc pro­gramme which will launch in the city next month.

The pro­gramme brings doc­tors and pa­tients to­gether for a healthy walk.

It takes place on Sun­day, Jan­uary 12 at 11am from Soul Food Kitchen on 973 Sauchiehal­l

Street. Those be­hind the event say it is the first of its kind in Scot­land.

Dr Laura Free­man, a cer­ti­fied life­style medicine doc­tor, is en­cour­ag­ing the peo­ple of Glas­gow to take a step to­wards bet­ter health by tak­ing part.

Walk with a Doc is an in­ter­na­tional non-profit or­gan­i­sa­tion whose mis­sion is to in­spire com­mu­ni­ties to well­ness through a com­bi­na­tion of move­ment and con­ver­sa­tion.

She said: “This pro­gram me has had tremen­dous par­tic­i­pa­tion and suc­cess in hun­dreds of cities but this is the first walk to launch in Scot­land. I’m truly thrilled to bring this sim­ple yet very ex­cit­ing pro­gramme to Glas­gow.

“It has shown in­cred­i­ble health im­prove­ments for so many peo­ple.”

The walk is open and free to the com­mu­nity.

Walk­ers will en­joy a short presentati­on on a cur­rent health topic at Soul Food Kitchen fol­lowed by a re­juve
