McHattie: Robertson snub suits us to a tee
KEVIN McHATTIE was surprised to see manager John Robertson overlooked for the Hearts job – but happy all the same.
The former Tynecastle left-back believes the scale of his current boss’ achievements on a shoestring budget in the Highlands have been underestimated.
But with the focus on achieving promotion to the Premiership, McHattie is content for his mentor to keep operating under the radar.
The 26-year-old, who made 82 appearances for Hearts early in his career, said: “Caley Thistle is a small club compared to others in Scotland. Being situated away up north doesn’t help, so the gaffer has done a great job bringing quality players in on the budget available – and that’s a huge credit to him. “Hopefully, he’s here for a long time.” Arbroath, who travel north today, stunned Caley Thistle with an emphatic home victory earlier this season. McHattie stressed: “It’s a tough game against Arbroath, who turned us over last time down there. We obviously need to improve on that.”
